Calling volunteers who want to get involved! We need YOU to make a difference for our Maywood kids!

The Maywood PTSA is looking to fill various board and committee positions for the 2023-2024 school year. You’ll find that many require a small and flexible time commitment that can fit into your schedule. Lend us your skills and expertise by joining a team of parents who work together to make a difference in the daily lives of the students, teachers and staff at Maywood Middle School.

We are accepting nominees for the following elected positions:
President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer
We also have non-elected positions available as well and we are looking for chairs for Staff Appreciation and Book Fair to name a couple events.

Nominations are open until approximately March 31, so please contact us soon! If you have any questions, please email the Nominating Committee members at:

Special education: OSPI Budget request for full funding of Special Education services in Washington state

January 9th marks the start of the 105-day 2023 biennial legislative session. The Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction has put forward several budget requests in relation to education, where of one is a request for the state to fully fund special education services in Washington. The request asks that the Legislature remove the 13.5% cap on state special education funding, and increase the special education tiered multiplier to fully cover the cost of special education services and sustain the state’s investment in inclusionary practices. (OSPI, 2023)
